What to Wear?
Newborn Sittings: The best shots for newborns are without any clothes at all. Mom and Dad wear a black shirt and dark pants or jeans. Bring an extra pair of clothes for you, newborns tend to be messy.
Family Shots in the Studio: Families look great in similar color schemes. Everyone in dark colors, jeans and white shirts always looks good and color looks great too. Avoid patterns, logos, and images, keep it simple. Women and girls look great in the simple shirts with decorative lines, for example, a scoop neck, tank top, v-neck, ruffled sleeves, or a bow.
Family Shots Outside: Outside, I like similar colors on everyone. Example, if everyone has on a hint of light blue, mom a light blue skirt, dad a light blue shirt, daughter light blue pants, son light blue jacket. This works with any color. In the Summer, sun dresses on the girls are pretty. In the Winter, your family can bundle up in their jackets. You can always fall back on jeans and white shirts.
Individual Shots:
Adults: Keep it simple. Be you. Bring 2-3 outfits. One black shirt.
Kids: Again, keep it simple. Avoid labels, logos and images. Bring a cute outfit or two. Bring things they enjoy... Sports/Uniform Equipment, a favorite truck or ball, a favorite dress-up outfit, a tutu, a leotard and tights and bows are always cute in little girls' hair.
